Dyslexia therapy is delivered by a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist and Certified Academic Language Therapist. Our sessions are uniquely designed to fit the needs of each learner. Using multisensory methods, students are given explicit and systematic instruction in foundational literacy skills. Instruction moves at the pace of the student, practicing skills until mastery is achieved. Students receive instruction in phonological awareness, alphabet, decoding and reading, spelling, handwriting, oral language, and comprehension. We offer MTA (Multisensory Teaching Approach), Take Flight, and Alphabetic Phonics, all of which are Orton Gillingham based programs. It is recommended that therapy students attend sessions four days per week.
Not all students that struggle with reading have dyslexia. However, most students do benefit from structured literacy practices. Using explicit and systematic instruction, we teach a sequence of skills needed to become accurate and efficient readers and writers. Literacy tutoring includes instruction in phonics, fluency, comprehension, reading, handwriting, spelling, and written expression.
Many students receive excellent dyslexia services at school but benefit greatly from having one-on-one supplemental support. Students who are often unwilling to take a chance and expose their difficulties in front of their peers blossom in the individual setting. Based on baseline assessments we will design lessons that support your child's current progress, and give extended practice to help them reach their reading goals. It is recommended that students attended two to three sessions per week.
